My first craft attempt

Welcome to my first exciting attempt at a craft. Now don't get real excited, just a little excited. Some of you may not know this but my picture is in Hobby Lobby (and other crafty stores) with this over my face.

I heard that Martha Stewart had a bounty on me at one time. That may or may not be true.

Anywho, as I have gotten older more and more of my friends are alone, their spouses have passed on, children are across the country, all sorts of reasons. So many of my friends are hundreds of miles away. I want to do something extra special and if they were closer I could bake them a cake or a pie or cookies. That's just what us southern gals do. But we are all watching our weight and who wants a whole cake sitting in the house just calling our name? I put a lot of thought into this. And tada.....

Have you ever seen these things in the store?

They come in 4 flavors I think. It has cake mix and frosting in the container, just add water and microwave it. Now it is not one of those good ole Southern 12 layer chocolate cakes, but it is easy and you can buy them in minis for just a bite of cake.
First, take container out of the cardboard box. I typed up the instructions on the computer and printed it on pretty paper. Then I took one of those full sheet labels and made a cute Happy Birthday to (insert person's name) and cut it in a circle to fit the cake container, then stuck it on the container. I had some paper stickers and stuck them on the cake container and jazzed it up the best I could.
Cake, candle, card and postage was less than $5. There are a zillion ways you could make this special and those of you with creative abilities I can only dream of the things you can do.
Well what do you think? Has this already been done and I missed it? I sure have to get this whole picture taking thing figured out.

  14. Dear Martha..I mean Jeanette.. :) (I'm such a smarty pants!) No..I have never seen those. Never, but I will look for them.
I would probably get the tin, make cookies, pack the blasted things, when I could just get one of these..and leave it to them to do when they were in the mood for chocolate! Late at night! I would love something like that so why wouldn't my friends. :) Thanks for the great idea!
    Hugs,
    Mona
